Noguchi's Playscapes

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

Noguchi's Playscapes, organized by the Museo Tamayo, revisits the artist's designs for several playgrounds, as well as stand-alone play structures. Through models, sketches, set designs and archival images, the exhibition offers a view of Noguchi's vision for new experiences of art, education and humanity through play.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about Noguchi's Playscapes :

This fascinating gem of a show explores a whimsical side to legendary sculptor Isamu Noguchi through his designs for public play spaces to actively engage with art. Through models, sketches and archival images, we glimpse the artist’s visions for playgrounds and play structures. Many of these designs were never realized, though they serve as inspirations to today’s designers and architects.
