Tania Bruguera: Talking to Power / Hablándole al Poder. This survey exhibition presents all of Bruguera's long-term, socially engaged art projects to date. As part of the exhibition, the artist will also open a school in YBCA's galleries. The Escuela de Arte util will convene weekly classes, taught by Bruguera and other prominent artist-educators, on topics such as systems of power and creative dissent.
One of the most hotly anticipated exhibitions in a season of hot shows, “Tania Bruguera: Talking to Power/ Hablándole al Poder” kicks off YBCA’s new Changing the Ratio initiative, a two-year series dedicated to women artists. Cuban artist Bruguera’s timely retrospective provokes civic engagement through the Escuela de Arte Útil (School of Useful Art), a school established in the galleries.
