The Ease of Fiction

Museum of the African Diaspora

Curator Dexter Wimberly presents the work of four African artists living in the United States. Exhibiting artists ruby onyinyechi amanze (Nigeria), Duhirwe Rushemeza (Rwanda), Sherin Guirguis (Egypt), and Meleko Mokgosi (Botswana) present recent paintings, drawings & sculptural works that explore issues of cultural identity, personal agency, and the very notion of "African art."

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about The Ease of Fiction :

This group exhibition features four contemporary African artists, all based in the United States, including ruby onyinyechi amanze, Duhirwe Rushemeza, Sherin Guirguis and Meleko Mokgosi. Each works across painting, installation, collage, sculpture and works on paper, interrogating uniquely detailed personal narratives centered within global themes.
