Joel Selvin: Summer of Love

Presidio Trust

Renowned music critic and author Joel Selvin, whose weekly column ran in the San Francisco Chronicle from 1972 to 2009, shares first-hand reflections on the music, politics, and wild times of a magical chapter in San Francisco history. Presidio Trust historian Barbara Berglund opens the evening with a presentation on the Presidio during the Summer of Love, as the military post met the epicenter of the counterculture.

This is what SF/Arts curator Betsy Crabtree had to say about Joel Selvin: Summer of Love :

If you weren’t there, no worries, there are plenty of chances to hear about it as San Francisco continues its celebration of the Summer of Love’s 50th Anniversary. Longtime (and now retired) San Francisco Chronicle music columnist Joel Selvin, who also authored “Summer of Love,” among other books about San Francisco, shares his personal recollections on the music, politics and high times of that long-ago, and well-remembered, season.
