Hala Alyan

Booksmith
Hala Alyan reads her debut novel, Salt Houses, about a Palestinian family caught between present and past, between displacement and home.
This is what SF/Arts curator Evan Karp had to say about Hala Alyan :
Celebrated New York-based performance poet Hala Alyan reads from and discusses her debut novel, “Salt Houses” (Houghton Mifflin). The book tells the intergenerational story of a Palestinian family that gets uprooted during the Six-Day War of 1967 and again during Saddam Hussein’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait. Ambitious in scope and told with Alyan’s lyricism, “Salt Houses” is a much-anticipated debut.
