Stump the Laureate

Marin Poetry Center

Stump the Laureate: Poetry Recitation with Dana Gioia. Recite your favorite poem by a published author other than you. California Poet Laureate, Dana Gioia will match the audience poem for poem until the audience or Giola runs out of poems

This is what SF/Arts curator Evan Karp had to say about Stump the Laureate :

California Poet Laureate Dana Gioia invites people to recite their favorite poem (by another author); Gioia matches the audience poem-for-poem until either the audience or he runs out of poems. A dynamic reader, Gioia is former chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. His “Interrogations at Noon” won the 2002 American Book Award, and his 1991 essay “Can Poetry Matter?” remains essential.
