A Journey into the Great Unknown

Asian Art Museum

A collaboration betwen artist Shahzia Sikander and Pulitzer prize-winning playwright, novelist and screenwriter Ayad Akhtar.

This is what SF/Arts curator Christian L. Frock had to say about A Journey into the Great Unknown :

The great Shahzia Sikander has recently collaborated with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, novelist and screenwriter Aya Akhtar to produce a suite of etchings that challenge mainstream perceptions of American Muslim identity. Mi’raj—the story of the mystical night journey of the Prophet Muhammad—is a guiding theme in a series that explores “a journey into the great unknown.”
