"Summer of Love" Bay Area Juried Exhibition
This exhibition pays tribute to the 1967 Summer of Love and celebrates its 50th anniversary. Bay Area artists are invited to submit works that celebrate or reimagine the brief period in 1967 that was the Summer of Love. Themes to explore: Peace, Love, Freedom; social movements that arose out of the Summer of Love such as Anti-war, Environmental, Free Speech, Black Power, Women's Movement, Gay Rights, Sexual Revolution, Farm Workers, Student Movement, etc; anti-establishment attitudes; hippies and flower children; psychedelia; 1967 bands and music; pop art & op art; fiber art incorporating tie-dye, macramé, embroidery or beading; poster art; and artwork utilizing fonts popular in that era.
