This new collection of paintings is a study in mixed feelings depicted through decorative objects--flowers in vases, decorative bushes, garden statuaries and related abstract forms. Many of the works are vibrant storms of energy, while others are somber and sweet. All of them seem to express conflicting emotions: cheerful and sad, serious and funny.
Tucker Nichols returns to Gallery 16 with a solo show of some 30 new paintings and works on paper created with discarded house paint. The gallery describes the show as “a study in mixed feelings depicted through decorative objects.” Given the political climate, just about everyone can relate to this very relatable artist and longtime San Francisco favorite.
