Without Lonesome George and the Last Martha

836M

Evolving-in-real-time exhibit inspired by French Natural History Museum's La Salle des Espèces Menacées et Disparues (Gallery of Endangered and Extinct Species) will feature Wendy Rein and Ryan T. Smith, founders of RAWdance in collaboration with noted scenic designer/engineer Sean Riley along with a company of six dancers. The title Without Lonesome George and the Last Martha refers to Lonesome George, the last Galapagos turtle; Martha was the last carrier pigeon named after the country's initial first lady, Martha Washington.

This is what SF/Arts curator Heather Desaulniers has to say about Without Lonesome George and the Last Martha :

RAWdance’s latest endeavor, by co-artistic directors Wendy Rein and Ryan T. Smith, allows its audiences to experience the creative process first-hand and in real time. Visit 836M Gallery to witness the live creation of this new ensemble work—a mosaic of movement, scenic design, videography and photography—which has its final showing on June 3.
