San Francisco Arts Monthly/SFArts.org and the Arts & Tourism Department of the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau recently presented two media seminars to the San Francisco arts community.

Our goal was to facilitate effective communication with the media. The first seminar, PR 101, covered public relations basics, including examples and instruction in use of standard tools (news release and pitch writing; database management; media relationship building) and how to set up a basic PR campaign for your business or organization that will get the attention you need.

The second, more advanced seminar, explored how digital audio / video / imagery can be better used in PR efforts, including blogs, vlogs and podcasts. Participants were given tips by professionals in the field on maintaining a media-friendly website and Internet presence. Also offered were overviews of online forums and communities such as Friendster, MySpace, YouTube and others.

Both seminars were organized and led by David Perry of David Perry & Associates.
